Hovershow 2012

Hovershow 2012 will be taking place in the Seaplane Hangar area of the Daedalus site, just off Marine Parade West, Lee on the Solent. Entry to the show will be through the main gates at the top of the slipway.

The Hovercraft Museum based in Hampshire is a truly unique collection of international significance. They care for more than 60 Hovercraft within several hangars on the former HMS Daedalus site. Each year the Museum holds a Hovershow to showcase the collection.

The official dates for Appley, Ryde IOW celebrating "The Queen's Diamond Jubilee" 2nd, 3rd and 4th June 2012

The event is being organised by "Quture & Appley Leisure with Ryde Inshore Rescue" supporting and engaging businesses, promoting well being through an integrated package of activities, traditional heritage and cultural initiatives Celebrating:Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee, marking the 60th anniversary of her accession to the thrones of the United Kingdom, Canada, Australia & New Zealand and the 60th anniversary of her becoming head of the commonwealth.

I Love Ryde now includes a new section called I Love Seaview so that visitors to Ryde can leave the hussle and bussle behind and enjoy a gentle stroll along the sea wall to this idylic village which has some lovely shops, eateries and things to do.

Of course we are well known for our fantastic sandy beaches, safe swimming, and for the most, a friendly climate. After all Ryde has been welcoming people from far and wide for a very long time.

However, explore a little further to discover our sprawling, period town centre. Here you will be lucky enough not to find a typical High Street.
Instead, boutique shopping, independent businesses, great eateries and beautiful Georgian and Victorian architecture, all weave throughout our main streets. We can also claim to have some pretty amazing views of the Solent, but perhaps you should come and take a look for yourselves!

Ryde can be easily accessed by road or rail. If venturing from the mainland you will be able to encounter the added delight of a water trip. Whether you choose to arrive by Fastcat or Hovercraft, this is a lovely and unique way to start your visit.
